SENATOR Christopher “Bong” Go personally extended additional support to over a thousand impoverished members of Tricycle Operators and Drivers’ Associations (TODA) in Candaba, Pampanga.

This initiative, held at the Candaba Municipal Covered Court, underscores the senator’s unwavering commitment to uplifting vulnerable sectors.

A total of 1,673 beneficiaries received essential items, including snacks, shirts, fans, basketballs, and volleyballs, directly from Senator Go. Select recipients also received special items such as shoes, a bicycle, a mobile phone, and a watch.

Additionally, through the collaborative efforts of Senator Go and the local government of Candaba led by Mayor Rene Maglanque, each qualified beneficiary received financial support to further address their immediate needs.

The gathering was also conducted with the support of other officials such as Pampanga Governor Dennis Pineda, Board Member Kaye Naguit, Apalit Mayor Jun Tentangco, Candaba Councilors Thelma Macapagal, Jai Bondoc, Quinnie Culala, and Rami Maglanque, and former Councilor Donya Salac, among others.

As Chairperson of the Senate Committee on Health and Demography, Senator Go took the opportunity to encourage those with health concerns to avail of medical assistance from nearby Malasakit Centers.

These centers, located at the Jose Lingad Memorial Regional Hospital and Overseas Filipino Workers Hospital in San Fernando City, Jose B. Rafael Lazatin Memorial Medical Center in Angeles City, and Diosdado Macapagal Memorial Hospital in Guagua, provide aid to cover medical expenses, especially for indigent patients.

The Malasakit Centers Act was principally authored and sponsored by Senator Go in 2019. To date, it has benefitted over 15 million Filipinos with 166 Malasakit Centers operational nationwide.

Senator Go, who also serves as Vice Chairperson of the Senate Committee on Finance, has also supported various development projects in Candaba. These include the construction of a two-storey multi-purpose building and the concreting of a road in Barangay Pulong.

“Bilang inyong Mr. Malasakit, kasama ng mga lingkod bayan na narito, patuloy po akong magseserbisyo sa inyong lahat sa abot ng aking makakaya dahil bisyo ko ang magserbisyo at ako po ay naniniwala na ang serbisyo sa tao ay serbisyo po ‘yan sa Diyos,” Go said.

On the same day, Senator Go also reached out and provided support to various cooperatives in San Fernando City.

“Noon pa man, hangarin ko na kahit saang sulok kayo ng Pilipinas, basta kaya ng aking katawan at panahon, sunog, putok ng bulkan, lindol, bagyo, pupuntahan po namin kayo. Makatulong sa abot ng aming makakaya, makabigay ng solusyon sa mga problema, makapag-iwan ng kaunting ngiti sa panahon ng inyong pagdadalamhati,” expressed Senator Go.
