PAL and PAL Express officials, leaders of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), the Mindanao Development Authority, and the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) celebrate the ‘first-ever’ Cotabato-Tawi-Tawi commercial air service in a cake-cutting ceremony Thursday, June 9, 2022, in Cotabato Airport (Awang Airport).

The new route – which provides direct air connectivity between two areas within the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region (Cotabato and Tawi-Tawi) operates every Monday and Thursday utilizing the Airbus A320.

“This is a dream come true for the people of Cotabato and Tawi Tawi. Prior to this pioneering service, travelers from Cotabato will have to take a flight to Manila and connect to Zamboanga, and, from there, take a flight or boat ride to Tawi-Tawi,” PAL said in a statement.
