SAYING that life is “continuous learning” (walang tigil na pag-aaral ang buhay), neophyte Senator-elect Robin Padilla said he will “not hesitate” to attend all legislative processes in the Senate to learn his new role as an elected senator.

Last June 14, 2022, Padilla was present during the briefing on legislation in the Senate entitled “Executive Mentoring on Legislative Governance: Setting the tone for the first 100 Days in the 19th Congress”.

Padilla, who topped the recent May 9 national elections, outvoting veteran senators, both incumbent and returning senators, said he will never deny that he still needs to learn so many things as he intently listened to the legislations officials, led by Deputy Secretary Edwin Bellen, on plenary procedures and processes in the committee level.

Padilla said it was an “open book” that he went to school at the Philippine College of Criminology after pardoning by then-President Fidel Ramos when he was convicted of illegally possessing firearms and sentenced to a maximum of 8 years in jail in 1994.

President Rodrigo Roa Duterte gave him an absolute pardon in November of 2016 upon the recommendation of the Board of Parole.

“Ang ambisyon ko maging pulis pero naging kriminal ako at yun ang nagtulak sakin para muling mag-aral ng batas na dapat kong matutunan,” Padilla was quoted as saying.

The actor turned senator said that with his new role in the Senate, he is bent on learning more and studying more for him to serve the people who gave him their trust during the last elections.
