P668 million fake products seized in Cavite, Bulacan
SOME P668 million worth of counterfeit products were seized by operatives of the Bureau of Customs in separate operations in Cavite and Bulacan.
The inspection of the warehouses in the two provinces were based on letters of authority issued by BOC Commissioner Rey Leonardo Guerrero.
Personnel of the Customs Intelligence and Investigation Service inspected on May 10 the Maclane Storage Facility on Niog Road, in Bacoor City, Cavite.
Seized were counterfeit goods bearing the brand names Nike, Adidas, Lacoste,and Dickies, worth P590 million.
Also found during the operation were construction supplies, power tools, numerous marine communication and telecommunication devices, assorted foodstuff and two 40-foot container vans filled with fake goods.
In an operation on May 2, authorities seized at the warehouses at Fochun Industrial Compound in Balagtas, Bulacan an estimated P78 million worth of counterfeit products with brand names Adidas, Nike, Jordan, Gucci, Kawasaki, Yamaha, and Honda.
The raids were conducted in coordination with BOC-Port of Manila, and the Armed Forces of the Philippines.
The raided warehouses were ordered sealed following the inventory of the seized items.
An investigation is underway for other possible violations of the Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines (RA 8293) and the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act (RA 10863). By Jane Eleda
