P2M worth of drugs seized in various ops

PHILIPPINE National Police Drug Enforcement Group (PNP-DEG) director, Brigadier General Remus B. Medina on Thursday announced the arrest of 12 wanted drug personalities and the seizure of more or less P2 million worth of prohibited drugs in a series of anti-narcotics operations in the country since last Saturday.

In a report to PNP chief, General Dionardo B. Carlos, the official said six of the suspects in separate buy-bust operations were identified as Mary Rose Bigol, a 33-year-old online seller; Charity Anilao, 32, an overseas Filipino worker; Roman Bondiogan, 33; and Ma. Chona Intervencion, 48.

The official said that members of the PNP-DEG Special Operations Unit (SOU) 4-A, the National Capital Region Police Office’s Regional Drug Enforcement Unit and the San Pablo City Police Station arrested Bigol and Anilao in front of Yellowcab SM City in Bgy. San Rafael 3:30 a.m. last Saturday.

Recovered from the possession of the two were 200 strips of Valium tablets and 100 strips of Mogadon valued at P447,000, P200,000 worth of boodle money topped by a marked P1,000 bill and a cellphone they used in making contact with the undercover officer.

A Toyota Vios with plate No. NCR 6556 used by the duo to transport the drugs was impounded by the PNP-DEG. Both suspects are now being held at the PNP-DEG SOU 4-A lock-up facility.

On the other hand, Bondiogan, a resident of Bgy. Bacalan in Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay, was arrested in an entrapment operation in Purok Sampaguita in Bgy. Tenan 2:30 a.m. Saturday.

Medina said that confiscated from the suspect’s possession were three large heat-sealed plastic sachets containing some 200 grams of shabu worth P1.36 million, the boodle money topped by a marked P1,000 bill and a mobile phone he used in making the illegal drug transaction.

The suspect’s motorcycle was also seized by the PNP-DEG.

A record check showed that the suspect was just recently released from the Ipil District Jail through a plea bargaining agreement.

Intervencion, a resident of Zone 5, Bgy. Bara in Opol, Misamis Oriental, yielded some 26 grams of shabu worth P172,000 during a sting in her neighborhood 11:30 p.m. Sunday.

All four suspects are now facing non-bailable charges for sale and possession of prohibited drugs under Republic Act (RA) 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, said the PNP-DEG director.

Medina said the other suspects were arrested on orders of the court.

He said that one of the suspects identified as Julito Davidon Jr., 36, was served a non-bailable warrant of arrest for violation of RA 9165 issued against him by the Danao City Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 90 on November 12 last year right in his residence in Cogon West, Carmen, Cebu.

No bail was recommended for the temporary liberty of the accused.

The 2nd identified as Ariel Pagaduan, 40, was located inside the Talavera Municipal Jail in Nueva Ecija by PNP-DEG operatives. The suspect was ordered arrested by the San Jose City RTC Branch 39 last October 26 for sale and possession of prohibited drugs.

The 3rd identified as Ehra Dula alias ‘Era Bonita,’ 24, an online ‘sabong’ agent was arrested in her residence at 987 Libis, Baesa, Bgy. 160 in Caloocan City on the basis of a warrant for violation of RA 9165 issued by the Valenzuela City RTC Branch 270 last October 25.

Abunda on the other hand was arrested in Bato, Catanduanes on the basis of a warrant issued by the Legazpi City RTC Branch 10 on January 30, 2020.

The 5th identified as de Guzman was served another warrant of arrest issued against him by the Taguig City RTC Branch 267. The suspect was already being held at the Metro Manila District Jail in Taguig City.

The 6th, Joey Santiago, 42, and the 7th, Cesar Gatapia, 55, were arrested in Bgy. San Gabriel in Teresa, Rizal on the basis of a warrant of arrest for violation of RA 9165 issued by the Morong, Rizal RTC Branch 159.

Benjamin Mesa, 35, of Bonifacio St. in Bgy. Libid in Binangonan, Rizal, was also arrested on the strength of a non-bailable case for sale and possession of drugs issued by the same Morong court.

Medina said Acmad Natangcop was arrested in Sitio Paradise II in Kinasang-an, Cebu City. The suspect is the subject of a non-bailable case for violation of RA 9165 issued by the Cebu City RTC Branch 85.
