SOME 9,000 pieces of fully-grown marijuana plants and seedlings worth at least P1.8 million found growing in the mountainous area of Tinglayan, Kalinga on Saturday were uprooted and set afire by combined operatives of the Philippine National Police (PNP) and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA).

PNP Drug Enforcement Group officer-in-charge Col. Rolando B. Cuya Jr. said that the prohibited crops were discovered in Bgy. Buscalan in Tinglayan municipality by members of the PNP-DEG Special Operations Unit-Cordillera, the PDEA and the Kalinga Police Provincial Office.

The banned plants were doused with petrol and set afire by the officers right at the scene.

However, no arrests were made during the marijuana eradication drive.
