TWO anti-criminality operations conducted by agents of the National Capital Region Police Office on Thursday led to the arrest of four lawbreakers and the confiscation of over P8 million worth of shabu and unlicensed high-powered weapons, NCRPO director, Brigadier General Anthony A. Aberin said yesterday.

Three of the suspects were arrested by operatives of the Northern Police District Drug Enforcement Unit under Colonel Josefino D. Ligan during an anti-narcotics operation in Barangay 185 in Caloocan City.

Brig. Gen. Aberin said that recovered by the NPD-DDEU under Colonel Josefino D. Ligan from the suspects were around 1.170 kilos of shabu valued at P7.956 million.

The official described the suspects as two female siblings: one 24 years old and the other 31 years old. The 3rd is an 18-year-old male.

The trio were arrested after conspiring to sell the drugs to a poseur. Also recovered during the sting was the buy-bust money topped by some marked bills.

Criminal charges for sale and possession of prohibited drugs under Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 are now being readied against the three before the Caloocan City Prosecutor’s Office.

The 4th suspect, a 25-year-old student from Quezon City was arrested in an entrapment operation conducted by the Southern Police District Special Operations Unit under Brig. Gen. Manuel J. Abrugena at a parking lot on Don Chino Roces Avenue Extension in Bgy. Magallanes, Makati City at around 4 p.m. Thursday.

Recovered during the operation were one caliber 5.56 assault rifle, one cal. 5.7 Ruger pistol, two loaded cal. 5.56 magazines, two cal. 5.7 magazines and 80 live ammunition and the buy-bust money topped by a marked P1,000 bill.

The suspect’s vehicle which he used to transport the weapons, was impounded by the SPD.

Brig. Gen. Aberin said that during initial questioning, the suspect failed to present any gun papers and a gun ban exemption from the Commission on Elections authorizing him to carry the weapons.

The suspect and the recovered guns and ammunition were taken to the SPD-DSOU office for further investigation. He was charged with violation of RA 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulations Act of 2013 in relation to the Omnibus Election Code.

Brig. Gen. Aberin said the two successful anti-crime operations were part of their ongoing stepped-up effort to remove illegal drugs and deadly weapons in the streets of Metro Manila.

“These successful operations highlight Team NCRPO’s firm commitment to maintaining law and order, focusing on safeguarding the integrity of the electoral process,” he said.
