Over P3M worth of shabu seized in Ilocos Norte

CAMP BGEN OSCAR M. FLORENDO, La Union – Police operatives have seized more than P3 million worth of shabu with an estimated weight of 500 grams following the arrest of two suspects in a buy-bust operation in San Nicolas, Ilocos Norte, police reported yesterday.

PRO 1 (Police Regional Office 1) Regional Director P/Brig. Gen. Westrimundo D. Obinque said one arrested suspect is a resident of Bgy. Balioeg, Banna, Ilocos Norte and the other one is a top drug suspect of Appari, Cagayan.

The operatives composed of joint elements of PPDEU and PIU-INPPO (Lead Unit), San Nicolas MPS, INPPO, RPDEU1, PIT RIU1, and RID in coordination with PDEA-INPO conducted an anti-illegal drug operation that resulted in the arrest of said suspects after they were caught conspiring to sell plastic sachet of shabu to poseur-buyer at Sitio 1, Bgy. 16 San Marcos, San Nicolas, Ilocos Norte.

Recovered from the suspects were several plastic sachets of shabu, drug paraphernalia, an Oppo mobile phone, one Taurus PT 1911 caliber 45 with inserted magazine loaded with eight live bullets, and another magazine for the said firearm loaded with eight live bullets.

Charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 are to be filed against the suspects, police said.
