Over P2M MJ seized in Navotas sting

POLICEMEN seized more than P2 million worth of dried marijuana leaves from two drug suspects in a buy-bust operation Thursday evening in Navotas City.

Navotas Police Chief P/Col. Dexter Ollaging said Ali James Erese, 20, of 99 4E Hermosa St., Tondo, Manila, and Joseph Raven Cotejo, 22, of Wawa 3, Salinas, Rosario, Cavite, were both newly identified drug personalities who tried to expand their illegal drug operation in the northern part of Metro Manila.

The two were arrested based on the information received by SDEU head P/Lt. Luis Rufo Jr. from a confidential informant. who told him that the suspects were engaged in selling bulk of dried marijuana leaves in Manila, Cavite and the northern area of the metropolis.

At around 9:20 p.m., a drug sting operation was conducted by elements of SDEU along Sitio Sto. Nino, Bgy. NBBS Proper that resulted in the arrest of the suspects after they handed a large brick of dried marijuana leaves to Cpl. Glenn Ocampo Jr., who acted as poseur-buyer in exchange for P14,000 marked money consisting of two genuine P1,000 bill and 14 pieces of boodle money.

Ollaging said SDEU operatives seized from the suspects a total of 20 kilos of dried marijuana leaves with corresponding standard drug price worth P2,400,000.
