TRASLACION GENERALLY PEACEFUL—PNP CHIEF
The Traslacion was generally peaceful with no major untoward incident recorded during the annual Feast of the Black Nazarene which drew an estimated 7.4 million devotees, Philippine National Police chief, General Rommel Francisco D. Marbil said yesterday.
The top cop commended members of the police force who provided security to the event as well as their partner-law enforcement agencies, the Quiapo Church authorities, the faithful and the rest of the general public who fully cooperated with the PNP’s security measures during the procession.
Gen. Aberin said the peaceful and orderly conduct of the Traslacion 2025 concluded without any major untoward incidents owing to the tireless efforts and sacrifices of the police force.
The National Capital Region Police Office headed by Brigadier Gen. Anthony A. Aberin and Manila Police District under Brig. Gen. Arnold Thomas C. Ibay were involved in the massive security for the event.
Except for the foot injuries and hypertension experienced by some devotees, there were no serious injuries or untoward incidents during the entire duration of the procession, said PNP spokesperson, Brig. Gen. Jean S. Fajardo.
The PNP, in coordination with other uniformed services and local government units, deployed 14,474 personnel to ensure the safety and security of the participants. The Philippine Red Cross reported only 1,300 minor injuries, highlighting the overall peaceful nature of the event, said Gen. Marbil.
“The successful and peaceful conduct of Traslacion 2025 reflects the hard work and dedication of the men and women of the PNP. They endured long hours and challenging conditions to protect the millions of devotees attending this sacred event,” said Gen. Marbil.
“Their service exemplifies their commitment to both God and country,” he added.
While minor tensions arose early in the procession when some devotees attempted to breach security barricades, PNP officers acted swiftly and professionally to defuse the situation, ensuring the event proceeded smoothly, he also said.
The PNP chief commended the exceptional coordination between police units, the Manila City Government, the Catholic Church, and volunteer organizations during the event.
Gen. Marbil also recognized the personal sacrifices made by officers, many of whom spent long hours away from their families and pushed through fatigue to ensure the safety of the public.
“Our officers exemplify the true essence of public service. Their sacrifices ensure that millions of devotees can express their faith safely and peacefully. This level of commitment reflects the PNP’s dedication to serving and protecting the Filipino people,” he added,” he said.
The PNP chief further called on the public to continue supporting the PNP’s peacekeeping efforts, particularly during large-scale events like Traslacion. Alfred Dalizon and PNA
