NATIONAL Capital Region Police Office director, Brigadier General Anthony A. Aberin on Thursday announced the arrest of over 60 top drug targets in Metro Manila following a string of anti-narcotics operations which resulted in the confiscation of nearly P70 million worth of shabu.

One of the suspects was arrested in a buy-bust conducted by undercover officers from the Caloocan City Police Station on King Faisal, Phase 12 in Barangay 188 yesterday.

Brig. Gen. Aberin said the suspect yielded some 3,420 grams of shabu valued at P23,250,000.

On Tuesday and Wednesday, the NCRPO also arrested 69 targets in separate anti-drug operations in the metropolis which yielded some P2.6 million worth of shabu.

Brig. Gen. Aberin said significant contributions came from all five NCRPO districts with the Northern Police District headed by Colonel Josefino D. Ligan accounting for nearly P507,000 worth of the drugs; the Eastern Police District under Col. Villamor Q. Tuliao confiscating over P975,000 worth of shabu; the Manila Police District headed by Brig. Gen. Arnold Thomas C. Ibay getting some P304,000 worth of the prohibited drugs; the Southern Police District under Brig. Gen. Bernard R. Yang accounted for at least P718,000 worth of shabu; and the Quezon City Police District headed by Col. Melecio M. Buslig Jr. confiscating over P170,000 worth of the same substance.

Col. Tuliao said that last Tuesday, they also confiscated some P900,000 worth of shabu from three known drug traffickers in Marikina City.

On the other hand, Col. Ligan said operatives of the Valenzuela City police on Wednesday arrested five drug personalities during a buy-bust operation in the Maysan area which led to the seizure of some P408,000 worth of shabu and over P23,000 worth of marijuana vapes.

All arrested suspects were charged with violations of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 for the sale and possession of prohibited drugs.

Brig. Gen. Aberin commended his men for their relentless campaign against illegal drugs even as he called on the community to continue supporting their anti-criminality campaign.

“The public can expect that NCRPO will launch an aggressive, relentless and highly-analytical anti-illegal drug campaign aimed at significantly reducing illegal drug supply and demand, with the help of the community,” he said.
