
Oplan Baklas starts in Cavite
TANZA, Cavite – Tons of campaign materials were collected by the combined forces of the Commission on Elections, the local police, the City and Municipal Engineering Office, and the City and Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office during the “Oplan Baklas” of illegal posters and tarpaulin placed in non-designated areas on the first day of the campaign period for national positions.
In cooperation with the local police, the city and municipal engineering office and city and municipal environment and natural resources offices, removed the campaign materials put in places not authorized by the Comelec.
The Comelec earlier announced on their social media pages the common poster areas, where the campaign tarpaulins or posters of each candidate can be placed.
Considered unlawful campaign materials are individual posters, billboards, posters, and tarpaulins exceeding 2×3 feet; collage-like posters exceeding 2×3 feet; and posters with single letters of names, when assembled together to form a size exceeding 2×3 feet.
Also prohibited are propaganda materials that are not in assigned common poster areas.
Designated common poster areas, according to Comelec, are mostly public places such as plazas, markets, barangay centers, and areas where crowds gather.
