Online survey shows senatorial bet Eric Martinez in ‘Magic 12’
ON the question “who among the aspirants for senatorial position in the coming 2025 mid-term election has the sincere desire to combat corruption,” three-termer and incumbent Valenzuela City 2nd Dist. Rep. Eric M. Martinez was among those choosen and enters the so-called ‘Magic 12’ circle.
This was according to Archlight, who has almost 2 million followers on Facebook, with around 20,000 of them engaging and participating in the online survey it conducted last November 1 and 2.
Through its official page, Archlight asked its millions of followers about their senatorial preference with regards to issues on healthcare, education, corruption, and other social issues.
“Ito ang resulta ng ating ginawang POLL – November 1 to 2, kung saan nagbigay ang ating Archlight followers ng kanilang Senatorial Preference sa darating na 2025 Midterm elections (This is the result of the POLL we conducted – November 1 to 2, wherein our Archlight followers gave their Senatorial Preference for the coming 2025 Midterm elections).” Stated in the offical FB page.
“SURVEY QUESTION: on PAGSUGPO NG KURAPSYON SA BANSA (SURVEY QUESON: on FIGHT AGAINST CORRUPTION IN THE COUNTRY).” It added.
“This is not an official survey, but rather a reflection of the senatorial preferences of Archlight Followers,” the Archlight meanwhile noted.
The inclusion of Martinez in the “winning circle” can be described as a revelation, as well as surprising many when he filed his Certificate of Candidacy (COC) for the Senatorial seat on the last day of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) scheduled filling.
Having proven his extensive 32 years of legislative experience, the survey justifies that the former Deputy Speaker of the House and currently vice-chairperson of the House Appropriations Committee, has gradually appealed to voters who look for performance over other criteria. Martinez was elected congressman from 2016 to present.
“Hindi ako sikat, pero resume ko mabigat! (I’m not famous, but my resume’s tremendous)” Martinez emphasizes.
Martinez is among the fresh faces seeking a Senate position after finishing his successful tenure in the House of Representatives, and serving non-stop in an elected legislative position since 1992 that started in his home city of Valenzuela as a Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) kagawad.
Armed only with a respectable resume, Martinez, who was also elected as barangay kagawad from 1997 to 2000, city councilor from 2001 to 2007 and city vice mayor from 2007 to 2016, is relying on voters’ ability to discern trustworthy candidates who prioritizes high-quality service to citizens over exaggerated storytelling.
Martinez equally made healthcare and public safety policies pivotal in his legislative work; serving as principal author of the Republic Act No. 11327, expanding Valenzuela Medical Center’s bed capacity and its existing healthcare services benefiting the constituents of Valenzuela and nearby areas of Caloocan Malabon Navotas and portions of Bulacan province.
