Online scammers
GOVERNMENT authorities continue to come up with measures aimed at stopping online scammers from victimizing jobseekers.
But unfortunately these highly-enterprising illegal recruiters still manage to dupe more jobless and underemployed Filipinos.
Last Wednesday, 176 Pinoys forced to work as online scammers in Myanmar arrived in Manila, according to the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW).
This brought to 2,096 the total number of Filipino workers rescued from various scamming hubs in Myanmar.
DMW Hans Leo Cacdac said the Filipinos were recruited by online scammers to work as customer sales representatives.
Upon arrival in Myanmar, the duped Filipinos were forced to work as online scammers.
Usually, trafficking victims are transported to Myanmar through the backdoor pathways.
Others travel through third countries which do not require travel visas for visiting Filipinos.
Filipino jobseekers, particularly women, would do well to be extra cautious in accepting online job offers.
Ugaliing magtanong sa mga otoridad bago tumanggap ng trabaho na ino-offer sa online.
