NUP backs DOJ chief
THE National Unity Party (NUP) on Friday strongly supported Justice Sec. Jesus Crispin Remulla, stressing his “professionalism and love of country is unparalleled.”
Ronaldo V. Puno, NUP Chairman, and Camarines Sur 2nd District Rep. LRay Villafuerte, President, made the statement after Remulla’s son, Juanito Jose Remulla III, was arrested by members of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in connection with the shipment intercepted at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) allegedly containing P1.3 million worth of high-grade marijuana.
“The NUP continues to express its support for Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla, vice chairman of the Party, during this difficult period,” Puno and Villafuerte said in a joint statement.
“We have known Secretary Remulla for years. His professionalism and love of country is unparalleled,” they said.
Puno and Villafuerte commended Remulla “for promptly assuring authorities that he will not, in any way, interfere in or influence the case of his son.”
“We are assured of the fact that as a patriotic citizen and head of the Department of Justice (DOJ) , he will always place the national interest above his personal ties,” Remulla said.
“As a principled man, we know that Secretary Remulla will always uphold the rule of law. We know that he will let justice take its course,” Remulla added.
