NUJP: Radio commentator shot dead in Tacurong City

UNIDENTIFIED gunmen shot and killed a radio commentator in Tacurong City, Sultan Kudarat on Wednesday morning, the National Union of Journalists of the Philippines said in a statement.

Police and local media members identified the victim as Jaynard Angeles of Radyo ni Juan Tacurong.

A police report said Angeles was shot in the head by two unidentified men while he was having his van checked at the Falle Auto Repair Shop in Barangay New Carmen.

The gunmen fled the crime scene on board a motorcycle.

A report by DXDN 103.3 Max FM Midsayap described Angeles as a hard-hitting commentator for the “Tinig ng Bayan” program on Radyo ni Juan Tacurong and hadbeen a broadcaster for more than 10 years. He used to be manager of Radyo Bandera Tacurong and Radyo ni Juan Tacurong.

Angeles filed his Certificate of Candidacy for councilor of Lambayong, Sultan Kudarat under the Partido Federal ng Pilipinas, Max FM reported. He had previously ran for kagawad of Barangay EJC Montilla in Tacurong City.
