NPA finance officer captured
A SUSPECTED New People’s Army finance officer in Bicol region wanted for four counts of murder with no bail recommended was captured on Wednesday by combined agents of the Police Regional Office 5 and the Philippine Army in an operation in Legazpi City in Albay, PRO5 director Brig. Gen. Jonnel Estomo announced yesterday.
Maricel Teilles, a 38-year-old resident of Sitio Misua B, Purok 2 in Bgy. Banquerohan, Legazpi City was arrested on the strength of a warrant of arrest for four counts of murder issued by Judge Alym Almayda of the Legazpi City Regional Trial Court on May 3, 2021
Teilles was also the subject of a second warrant of arrest for violation of Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulations Act of 2013 and RA 9516 or illegal possession of explosives issued by Judge Mel-Gerald Nieva of the Legazpi City RTC last June 1.
The PRO5 director said the suspect has been in hiding for many years until security forces tracked her down, with the help of informants.
“The suspect is a very elusive NPA finance officer under Commander Platop, who is wanted for her involvement in the murder of several civilians and government troops in Bicol,” said Estomo.
The suspect is being held at the Legazpi City police lock-up facility, pending her presentation to court.
