Noveleta declared 1st Class Town in Cavite
TRECE MARTIRES CITY, Cavite – From being a 3rd class town for a long time, Noveleta, the smallest municipality in Cavite province, is now a First Class Municipality.
This was based on Executive Order 074, Series of 2024 or the Income Classification for the First General Income Reclassification of Provinces, Cities and Municipalities according to income ranges under Republic Act 11964 signed by President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr..
The Department Order was pursuant to Section 6 of Republic Act 11964 or the Automatic Income Classification of Local Government Units (LGUs) Act, which the Department of Finance (DOF) has mandated to each LGUs.
The income classification for cities and municipalities are based on the income ranges as Class Average Annual Regular Income.
The Department Order will take effect on January 1, 2025 in accordance with Section 9 of RA 11964 and Rule ll, Section 10 of its implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR).
According to Mayor Dino Chua, the latest classification reflects their good management, transparency, and effective service felt by the citizens of Noveleta.
Maragondon Mayor Lawrence “Umbe” Arca also expressed elation over the new classification of their town.
“Sa loob lamang ng mahigit dalawang taon nating pamumuno, nakamit natin ang pagiging 2nd Class Municipality, dahil ito sa ating tunay na hangarin na maiangat ang antas ng kalidad ng ating bayan,” said Arca, who is running on his 2nd term as mayor of Maragondon in the May 2025 local elections.
“Ito ang tunay na resulta ng pinagsama-samang dedikasyon sa pagbibigay ng serbisyo publiko ng ating mga lingkod-bayan at sa pagtutulugan ng bawat-isa sa atin.” Arca added
The other towns in Cavite which classifications were raised were Amadeo from 4th Class to 2nd Class, Bailen from 5th Class to 4th Class, Magallanes from 4th Class to 3rd Class, Maragondon from 3rd Class to 2nd Class, Mendez Nunez from 4th Class to 2nd Class, and Ternate from 4th Class to 3rd Class.
The ranking of Tagaytay City was also elevated from 2nd Class to 1st Class City, and Trece Martires from 4th Class to 2nd Class City, while Carmona from 1st Class town to 2nd Class City.
Alfonso, General Mariano Alvarez (GMA), Indang, Kawit, Naic, Rosario, Silang and Tanza remained in the 1st Class Municipality status while Bacoor, Dasmarinas Imus and General Trias as 1st Class Cities.
