NO Filipino nationals were affected by the attack on Saudi energy facilities and refinery output in Jeddah, the Philippine Embassy in Riyadh said yesterday and advised Filipinos to monitor security advisories for their safety.

In a statement, the Embassy confirmed that “no Filipino nationals were affected in the attacks in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on 20 and 25 March 2022.”

The Embassy and the Philippine Consulate General in Jeddah will continue to coordinate with local authorities and the Filipino community to ensure the safety and security of Filipinos in the Kingdom, the statement added.

Filipinos were told to contact the Philippine Embassy in Riyadh or the Philippine Consulate General in Jeddah in case of emergency.

The Philippines joined the community of nations in its collective condemnation of these attacks and called for the cessation of violence against civilians.

Saudi state-run media, Al Jazeera reported Yemen’s Houthi rebels have unleashed a barrage of drone and missile attacks on Saudi Arabia, targeting a liquefied natural gas (LNG) plant, water desalination plant, oil facility, and power station, damaging civilian homes and vehicles.
