CAMP BGEN OSCAR M FLORENDO, La Union – A “most wanted person” (MWP) was arrested by authorities for allegedly raping her own stepdaughter Wednesday morning in Sarrat, Ilocos Norte.

In a report to Police Brigadier Gen. John Chua, Police Regional Office (PRO) 1 director, Ilocos Norte Police Director Julius Suriben said the suspect was listed as the no. 1 MWP for crime at the regional level.

Suriben reported that the rape suspect was arrested based on the arrest warrant dated January 30, 2023, issued by Judge Dinah Myrtle Morales Pacquing of Regional Trial Court (RTC) 11 Laoag City, Ilocos Norte, with three counts of rape.

The court provided a bail bond of P200,000 for the crime of sexual assault for his temporary liberty, while “no bail” was recommended for the two cases of statutory rape in violation of Art. 266-A of the RPC (Revised Penal Code).

The said implementation of the warrant of arrest was effected through the joint efforts of the Provincial Special Enforcement Team, Ilocos Norte PPO (Police Provincial Office), and Sarrat PNP (Philippine National Police).

Meanwhile, Chua lauded the efforts of Team INPPO under the leadership of Suriben.

“As we say time and again, the arrest of these criminals is a two-fold success. First, we eliminate their chances of committing the same or graver crimes, and second, we give justice to those they have wronged and injured,” the PRO 1 director said.

The suspect is now under the custody of the Sarrat PNP for proper documentation before turnover to the court.
