No. 1 most wanted person in Western Visayas captured
A NOTORIOUS sex offender tagged as the no. 1 most wanted person in Western Visayas was arrested by agents of the Philippine National Police- Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) in his hiding place in Isabela province on Tuesday, a report to PNP chief Gen. Rommel Francisco D. Marbil said yesterday.
PNP-CIDG director Brig. Gen. Nicolas D. Torre III said that the suspect identified only thru his alias “Oliver,” a native of Cadiz City in Negros Occidental, was arrested in Bgy. Lourdes in Angadanan, Isabela by members of the Quirino CIDG Provincial Field Unit on the strength of three warrants of arrest.
Judge Gwendolyn Jimenea of the Cadiz City Regional Trial Court Branch 60 issued the warrants for attempted rape and sexual assault and acts of lasciviousness in relation to Republic Act 7610 or the Anti-Child Abuse Law against the suspect in November last year.
A total of P520,000 bail was set for the temporary liberty of the suspect.
Torre said that the accused has been listed as the no. 1 Regional Level Most Wanted Person in Western Visayas, the no. 1 most wanted person in Negros Occidental, and the no. 1 most wanted man in Cadiz City.
The suspect fled Negros Occidental after learning that a warrant for his arrest has been issued and went into hiding in Isabela province until a tip led to his arrest by the CIDG tracker team in Quirino province.
“This is part of our stepped-up implementation of our Oplan: Pagtugis aimed at accounting for all wanted lawbreakers in the country. I have ordered all field units to operate across the country and even beyond territorial borders to catch all criminals, especially those accused of crimes against persons such as rape and sexual abuse. To all wanted persons out there, we will catch you, wherever you are,” Torre said.
