NLEX and TNT put their unbeaten records on the line when they battle each other today in the PBA Governors Cup at the Philsports Arena in Pasig.

The winner of the 5:45 p.m. encounter between the Road Warriors and the Tropang Giga will gain an early share of the lead with Converge FiberX with three straight victories.

NLEX swept Blackwater, 124-102, last Jan. 25 and NorthPort, 121-112, last Jan. 28, while TNT defeated Phoenix, 123-119, and Rain or Shine, 105-100.

Focus of attention will be NBA veteran Jonathan Simmons of NLEX and Jalen Hudson of TNT.

Simmons, who is reportedly set to play only four games for the Road Warriors before leaving for China to honor an earlier commitment, was impressive in his first two outings so far.

Simmons finished with 32 points, ine rebounds and seven assists against Blackwater and 33 points, eight rebounds and five assists against NorthPort.

Not to be outdone, Hudson had a near triple double of 34 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists against Phoenix and 24 points and 14 rebounds in a come-from-behind win over Rainor Shine.

In the 3 p.m. curtainraiser, San Miguel Beer guns for its second straight win when it meets Blackwater.

Now under new coach Jorge Gallent, the Beermen opened their campaign with a convincing 114-93 victory over Phoenix last Sunday.

Leading the way for San Miguel is import Cameron Clark, who debuted with 23 points and seven rebounds.

Clark will be up against Blackwater reinforcement Shawn Glover, who had 31 points and 13 rebounds in the Bossing’s victory over the Fuel Masters.

Glover had 26 points and seven assists as Blackwater dropped its first assignment against NLEX.
