THE Philippine National Police (PNP) leadership this week expressed its gratitude to the Armed Forces and Police Savings and Loan Association, Inc. (AFPSLAI) for its effort to build a new Marcos Municipal Police Station in Ilocos Norte.

The PNP, headed by General Rodolfo S. Azurin Jr., and the AFPSLAI, led by retired Vice Admiral Gaudencio C. Collado, also worked to sign a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) to construct the new Marcos police facility with the signing of a Deed of Donation.

The MOA was signed by PNP Deputy Chief for Administration, Lieutenant Gen. Rhodel O. Sermonia and Collado. The signing was witnessed via Zoom by Police Regional Office (PRO) 1 Director Brigadier Gen. John C. Chua and local officials of Ilocos Norte led by Governor Matthew Joseph Manotoc and Marcos town mayor Antonio V. Mariano.

The new Marcos Municipal Police Station will replace the old building, which suffered extreme damage as a result of an earthquake that hit the place on October 25, 2022.

The new facility will have the necessary equipment and amenities, as well as ample space to ensure that police officers can work with maximum effectiveness.

During the “virtual” ground-breaking ceremony, the PNP emphasized its commitment to providing police officers with the necessary facilities and resources to carry out their duties effectively.

“The safety and security of every community is of utmost importance, and this new police station is a significant step towards achieving this goal. The construction of this new facility will not only enhance the capabilities of our police force, but it will also send a clear message that we are committed to protecting our citizens and ensuring that our community remains a safe place to live, work, and raise a family,” Sermonia said.

The PNP also thanked local government officials of Ilocos Norte province and the Marcos municipality for their cooperation and support in this project and all joint efforts over the years.

“Without a doubt, the help and generosity of the local government units and their leaders have been the secret to the continuing success and performance of the PNP in Marcos, Ilocos Norte and the rest of the country,” Sermonia said.
