New LTO head named
THE Transportation leadership has named Asst. Secretary Atty. Hector Villacorta as replacement of resigned LTO chief Assistant Secretary Jay Art Tugade.
Officer-in-Charge Villacorta took the top LTO post from Tugade in simple turnover rites yesterday morning or a day before the effectivity of Tugade’s resignation (June 1).
Prior to his new assignment, he was the Department of Transportation Assistant Secretary for Communication.
On May 22, Tugade tendered his resignation citing differences of methods with its mother unit – the DOTr.
Atty. Villacorta was among the two officials appointed by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. as DOTr’s Assec for Communication on January 5. The other one was Julius Yano as (Assec) for Maritime.
A former Commission on Appointments secretary, Villacorta was previously the chief of staff of former Senate Majority Leader Vicente “Tito” Sotto.
