New illegal drug
DON’T look now, but a new type of illegal drug is being sold in the Philippines, worrying the authorities and the Filipino people.
It is reassuring to know, however, that the Philippine National Police (PNP) is keeping a tight watch on the trade of the new drug.
Called “methyl amphetamine,” the drug is similar to shabu in liquid form, but “appears to be cheaper and less toxic.”
Reports said the liquid substance, which is being sold on social media, can be converted into a solid one.
B/Gen. Eleazar Matta, chief of the PNP-Drug Enforcement Group, said “methyl amphetamine” looks like ordinary distilled water.
When the substance is processed, it causes a lot of effects in the air and produces odor, according to the PNP-DEG chief.
The recent arrest of three Chinese nationals in Pasay City and Paranaque City led to the discovery of the new type of illegal drug.
The people are made to believe that the discovery of the new illegal drug will only steel the determination of the authorities to address the drug menace.
Unlike the bloody war on drugs of the previous administration, President Marcos is focused on the rehabilitation of drug dependents.
In the view of many, drug dependents, who are mostly youngsters, are mere victims of the dreaded “drug monster.”
