CEBU CITY – Newly appointed Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Regional Director Fire Chief Superintendent Roberto Genave said that he intends to put up additional fire stations in five local government units (LGUs) in Cebu province.

During his courtesy visit with Cebu Governor Gwen Garcia, he said that the new fire stations will be allocated for Tabogon, Alcoy, Borbon, Ronda, and Santander municipalities.

The official said that the BFP 7 and the LGUs can enter into an agreement for the project, and the LGUs will allot the space where the new fire stations will be built.

Gov. Garcia reminded the BFP official about the recently passed ordinance by the Provincial Board that now requires national government agencies to consult with the Capitol before implementing any of their programs and projects in Cebu.

PB Ordinance No. 2023-02 penalizes agencies that would violate certain sections of the Local Government Code of 1991, which has since mandated NGAs (national government agencies) to work and consult with LGUs in any project implementation and planning.

Genave acknowledged the governor’s kind reminder and said BFP is more than willing to work closely with the Cebu Provincial Government.

Before assuming his post in Region 7, the Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA) Alumnus “Patnubay” Class of 1995 served as director for the BFP Headquarters Support Service and as Region 4-A director for BFP-Calabarzon.

He also served as director of the National Fire Training Institute and directorate for comptrollership at the BFP National Headquarters.

Under his leadership, he enhanced safety services for the benefit of LGUs and their constituents.
