Netball stars at PSC

THE Philippine netball team’s silver-medal finish in the 2022 International Netball Event held last Aug. 2-5 in Jeonju, Korea will be discussed during the People Sports Conversations program on Thursday, Aug. 18.

National women’s netball team coaches Angelina Fedillaga and Sea Ann Gallegos, team captain Karen Lomogda and team member Ewon Arayi will talk about their Filipinas’ campaign in four-day competition during the 1 p.m. program presented by the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC).

The weekly program is supported by the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR), Pocari Sweat, Pioneer and Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office.

Handled by Fedillaga and Gallegos, the Filipinas brought home the silver medal in the five-nation event which served as part of its preparations for the Asian Championships next month.

Singapore bagged the gold medal, while host Korea took the bronze medal.

Aside from Lomogda and Arayi, the other members of the national etam are KAtrin Gracia and Vanguie Soriano of Philippine Army, Tin Abriam, Shang Berte, Je-Anne Carmelo, Nica Guliman, Bennetee Revillosa and CJ Seno.

The team, headed by Philippine Netball Federation, Inc (PNFI) president Atty. Charlie Ho, made a courtesy call to the PSC Commissioner Bong Coo and Executive Director Atty. Guillermo Iroy at the PSC office in Vito Cruz, Manila recently.

Netball is a ball game played by two teams of seven players in a rectangular court with goal rings without board.

The object of the game is to score as many points as possible without advancing the ball through dribbling.

A player can hold on to the ball for three seconds before shooting or passing.

Netball is being played in 80 countries and has been played in the Southeast Asian Games.
