
Negros Occ PNP sends to jail 193 anti-crime targets
A TOTAL of 193 anti-crime targets were arrested while over P3.5 million worth of evidence, including illegal drugs, were seized by the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOCPPO) in a week-long operation in the province, the Journal Group learned yesterday.
NOCPPO director Col. Rainerio M. De Chavez said that among the suspects they arrested were 52 illegal drug suspects in the province.
The suspects were arrested as a result of 39 anti-narcotics operations form March 10 to 16, which led to the confiscation of nearly 465 grams of shabu worth at least P3.144 million.
The official said that they also hauled to jail 10 Most Wanted Persons and 81 Other Wanted Persons in the province and arrested 11 others for possession of illegal firearms amid their stepped-up drive to account for wanted men and guns and other weapons that could be used to disrupt the holding of a peaceful and orderly May 12 National and Local Elections in the province.
The week-long operation by the NCRPPO also resulted in the arrest of 10 persons for illegal fishing activities and 42 others for illegal gambling.
Recovered from the suspects were nearly P270,000 worth of illegally-caught fish and illegal fishing and gambling paraphernalia.
