FIFTY-FOUR policemen found violating the country’s traffic code were accosted and given citation tickets inside the National Capital Region Police Office headquarters in Camp Bagong Diwa in Bicutan, Taguig City on Thursday, the Journal Group learned.

According to NCRPO director, Brigadier General Jonnel C. Estomo, the 54 erring Metro Manila policemen were apprehended in line with their stepped-up enforcement of camp rules and regulations.

“This is in line with our internal cleansing policy which also aims to ensure that our policemen are following traffic rules and regulations and the land transportation code of The Philippines,” said the NCRPO chief.

Estomo added the 54 policemen were issued citation tickets for a number of violations such as failure to present driver’s license, driving without crash helmet, driving with unregistered motor vehicles and motorcycles, failure to carry and show their Official Receipt and Certificate of Registration from the Land Transportation Office. Others have no decal or have expired decals too.

The operation was led by the NCRPO Regional Headquarters Support Unit headed by Colonel Wilson L. Doromal with the support of the Highway Patrol Group-NCR Field Unit, the NCRPO Regional Intelligence Division and Counter-Intelligence and Security Section, the Regional Mobile Force Battalion and the Taguiog City Police Station.

“The action by our camp commander bespeaks that our personnel are not exempted from existing rules and regulations inside our Regional Headquarters and most especially with existing laws and ordinances. As we intensify our internal cleansing program, we will be enforcing the law without fear and favor. We will continuously improve our system and organization in order to protect and serve the people,” Estomo said.
