NCRPO’s crime drive hauls over 1,000 lawbreakers, guns, drugs

A RECENT conduct of Simultaneous Anti-Criminality Law Enforcement Operations or the so-called ‘One-Time, Big-Time’ (OTBT) anti-criminality drive in Metro Manila led to the arrest of more than 1,000 lawbreakers and the confiscation of over P10 million worth of drugs and illegal firearms, NCRPO director Major General Jonnel C. Estomo said yesterday.

The NCRPO chief said that the OTBT anti-crime operations in the metropolis conducted from January 23-29 resulted in the arrest of 470 persons with standing warrants of arrest for various criminal offenses.

He added that the period also saw his men conducting a total of 348 police anti-narcotics operations which led in the arrest of 486 known drug personalities and the confiscation of P10.762 million worth of shabu and other prohibited drugs.

Those operations likewise resulted in the arrest of 17 men who yielded the same number of illegal firearms amid the NCRPO’s ongoing effort to account for loose weapons that could be used as an instrument to sow violence in the streets of Metro Manila.

Maj. Gen. Estomo lauded the Manila, Quezon City, Eastern, Southern and Northern Police Districts and other NCRPO operating units for their latest major accomplishment in the war on crime and drugs.

“I commend the unwavering effort of the five police districts and regional operating units of NCRPO in the conduct of these One-Time-Big-Time operation sto arrest wanted persons, curb the proliferation of illegal drugs, vices, and all forms of criminality in the community,” said the official who wants his men to be ‘seen, felt and appreciated by the people through their extraordinary police service’ under his S.A.F.E. program.

NCRPO Deputy Regional Director for Operations Brigadier Gen. Jack L. Wanky said that as a result of their successful OTBT last month, relatives and friends of victims of sensational flocked to the NCRPO headquarters in Camp Bagong Diwan in Bicutan, Taguig City to express their gratitude and appreciation to the Metro Manila police force.

Those who went to Camp Bicutan are immediate families and friends of victims of senseless killings, rape, robbery with homicide and other immoral acts.

“Makakaasa po ang ating mga kababayan lalong lalo na ang mga biktima ng mga sensational crimes na hindi po tayo titigil sa ating pagtugis sa mga kriminal na gumawa nito,” Brig. Gen. Wanky said.
