MEMBERS of the National Capital Region Police Office from October 31 to November 7 this year seized P41 million worth of shabu and other prohibited drugs as a result of their stepped-up anti-narcotics campaign in Metro Manila.

An NCRPO press statement said the series of operations played a crucial role in reducing the local drug supply, destabilizing organized crime structures and disrupting the operations of drug syndicates in the metropolis.

“Team NCRPO will not tolerate illegal drug activities in Metro Manila,” said the unit in announcing the confiscation of the multi-million worth of drug evidence during the week-long anti-drug crackdown.

It said that the Eastern Police District headed by Colonel Villamor Q. Tuliao confiscated five kilograms of the high-grade marijuana derivative called ‘Kush’ valued at P7.5 million during the period.

Other NCRPO units carried out a total of 204 anti-drug operations during the period which resulted in the seizure of four kilos of shabu, over .13 kilos of marijuana, 878 tablets of the designer drug called Ecstasy and a substantial amount of cocaine, Kush, Ketamine, and homogenized hashish.

The total street value of the seized drugs was placed at P41,016,562.80 which officials said highlighted the effectiveness of their strategic operations to dismantle rug distribution networks in Metro Manila.

The NCRPO also reaffirmed its holistic approach to addressing the illegal drug problem, focusing not only on enforcement but also on prevention and rehabilitation.

“By working closely with community leaders, local government units, and other stakeholders, the NCRPO aims to sustain its anti-drug campaign and ensure Metro Manila remains a safe and drug-free region,” the statement said.

Brigadier General Reynaldo M. Tamondong has been named as Officer-in-Charge of the NCRPO following the 10-day administrative relief of Major Gen. Sidney S. Hernia ordered by Philippine National Police chief, General Rommel Francisco D. Marbil to give way to an impartial investigation into accusations hurled against Hernia in the aftermath of their October 29 raid on an Ermita, Manila building said to be housing a ‘scam farm.’
