PHILIPPINE National Police chief General Guillermo Lorenzo T. Eleazar ordered the National Capital Region Police Office to ensure that the distribution of government cash assistance in Metro Manila will not turn into “super spreader events.”

The NCRPO headed by Major Gen. Vicente D. Danao Jr. started assisting local government units in the metropolis in distributing cash assistance to low-income families affected by the Enhanced Community Quarantine.

Gen. Eleazar and top NCRPO officials inspected the deployment of their men in different Ayuda Centers in Quezon City and Manila early morning yesterday.

Gen. Eleazar recalled the incident last week wherein the vaccination processes in some parts of Manila and Las Piñas City needed to be cancelled because of overcrowding.

“Hindi dapat mangyari sa cash aid distribution ang nangyari nitong nakaraang linggo sa iba’t ibang vaccination centers kung saan dinumog ng mga tao,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Department of the Interior and Local Government said there will be no delay in the distribution of the ayuda to low-income individuals in the NCR.

“As agreed with the Metro Manila Council, all local government units (LGUs) in the NCR will be starting their Ayuda II distribution Wednesday, including the City of Manila,” said DILG Undersecretary and spokesperson Jonathan Malaya.

He said the DILG and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) will supervise the rollout of cash aid in the City of Manila to ensure the orderly conduct of payout activities in the city.

Malaya said that officials and representatives of the DILG, DSWD, and the Department of National Defense (DND) led by DSWD Secretary Roland Bautista attended the ceremonial distribution of ayuda at the Jose Abad Santos High School in Binondo yesterday morning.

He said additional personnel from the DSWD and the DILG have been deployed to all distribution sites in Manila to supervise the pay-out of the Manila Social Welfare Department and ensure the orderly and systematic distribution of Ayuda.

“Secretary Eduardo M. Año has also directed Police Major Gen. Vicente Danao to deploy additional police officers and social distance patrollers to the City of Manila for an orderly distribution,” he said. With Jun I. Legaspi
