MORE than P5 million worth of shabu and marijuana were seized by agents of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) from 12 ‘high-value targets’ in Metro Manila last week in line with their stepped-up war on drugs, NCRPO director, Major General Vicente D. Danao Jr. said on Monday.

Danao said they are intensifying their ‘intelligence-driven’ operations to identify and arrest drug traffickers in the metropolis specifically those involved in large-scale distribution of the so-called ‘poor man’s cocaine’ and dried marijuana leaves.

Around 11 p.m. last Saturday, members of the Muntinlupa City Police Station Drug Enforcement Unit arrested Jalanie Camulo alias ‘Mama’and Sittie Pindatun alias ‘Eallah’ after they conspired to sell 100 grams of shabu worth P680,000 to an undercover officer at the Old Terminal in Barangay Alabang.

Confiscated from the duo were three plastic packets containing the so-called ‘poor man’s cocaine’ and the buy-bust money topped by some marked bills, said Danao citing a report from Southern Police District director, Brigadier Gen. Jimili L. Macaraeg.

On the same evening, members of the Quezon City Police District Station 4arrested Agosto Borromeo alias ‘Boss,’44; Jaymart Marcial alias ‘Mamars,’27; and Grace Raquiza,32, all residents of Bgy. Kaligayahan in Novaliches, Q.C. during an entrapment operation.

Confiscated from the possession of the three were 55 grams of shabu valued at P374,000 and the marked money. A report from QCPD director, Brig. Gen. Antonio C. Yarra said that Borromeo and Raqueza were previously arrested for a drug-related offense in 2018 while Marcial is facing a slight physical injury case.

On Friday, more than P2 million worth of dried marijuana leaves were recovered during a buy-bust operation at Block 316, Lot 9 in Maya Street, Bgy. Rizal in Makati City conducted by the local police.

Danao said that arrested during the operation were Carlo Nicol,23; Guian Franco,30; Jorry Molate,50; ad Camela Salibio,57. The NCRPO director, citing an SPD report said that recovered from the four were two travelling bags containing 17 dried marijuana bricks, each weighing a kilo and valued at P2.040 million.

On the same day, members of the Navotas City Police Station under Colonel Dexter Ollaging arrested Lean Balauro and Dave Abila during a sting along C4 Road in Bgy. Bagumbayan North which led in the recovery of 10 plastic packets containing 150 grams of shabu P1.020 million and the boodle money topped by a marked P,1000 bill.

On Thursday last week, Taguig City policemen arrested Musalik Balakanen, a 27-year old tricycle driver during a sting in New Lower Bicutan. The suspect yielded eight heat-sealed plastic sachets containing some 130 grams of shabu worth P886,000 and the boodle money topped by marked P1,000 bill, Danao said

Danao said that those operations were made in the wake of their stepped-up war against illegal drug trafficking and abuse in the metropolis.

“Tuloy-tuloy po ang ating operasyon sa buong Kamaynilaan kontra sa laganap na paggamit at pagbebenta ng iligal na droga. Asahan po ninyong hindi magsasawa ang ating mga kapulisan sa pagsasagawa ng mga operasyon upang kahit papaano at unti unti nating matuldukan kundi man mabawasan ang matagal na problema sa iligal na droga,” he said.

The NCRPO director also called on the citizenry to immediately report to the nearest police station the presence of suspicious activities or drug personalities in their neighborhood.

He assured the public that his men are ready 24/7 to respond to reports from concerned citizens.

“Kung kayo man ay pusher, user o kayo mismo ang pinanggagalingan ng iligal na droga sinisigurado ko sa inyo na may kalalagyan kayo. Kaya sana tigilan na ho natin ang paggamit ng iligal na droga na alam naman natin na walang maidudulot na mabuti lalo na hindi pa din tapos ang ating problemang pangkalusugang pinagdadaanan,” the Metro Manila police chief said.
