OFFICERS and men of the National Capital Region Police Office yesterday hailed the promotion of their director, Major General Jonnel C. Estomo who became one of the four members of Philippine Military Academy ‘Tanglaw-Diwa’ Class of 1992 to take their office of office as brand-new 2-star generals before Philippine National Police chief, General Rodolfo S. Azurin Jr.
Department of Interior and Local Government Secretary Benjamin ‘Benhur’ C. Abalos Jr. himself announced the promotion of Maj. Gen. Estomo and 53 other senior and mid-level police officers during the rollout of the ‘BIDA’ or Buhay ay Ingatan, Droga ay Iwasan’ program at the NCRPO headquarters in Camp Bagong Diwa in Bicutan, Taguig City on Monday.
Gen. Azurin on Monday evening led the donning of rank of Estomo and Estomo and his classmates from PMA Class 1992, PNP Director for Plans, Maj. Gen. Bernard M. Banac and PNP Director for Police-Community Relations, Maj. Gen. Mario A. Reyes as well as two members of PMA ‘Sambisig’ Class of 1991, PNP Director for Operations, Maj. Gen. Emmanuel B. Peralta and PNP Director for Human Resource and Doctrine Development, Maj. Gen. Jon A. Arnaldo on Monday evening.
Maj. Gen. Estomo’s promotion came as he accepted the challenge to lead the most complex police regional unit in the country where he launched his SAFE program which is short for a police force that can be Seen, Appreciated and Felt by the public thru their Extraordinary deeds.
Estomo also initiated the launching of the S.A.F.E NCRPO App Alert which aims to enhance police emergency assistance by providing a dedicated emergency reporting system for the community and other establishments in Metro Manila just by a click of their fingers.
