A MOST wanted “rapist” in the Bicol region was captured by agents of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) in his hiding place in San Pablo City in Laguna on Monday after almost eight years in hiding, NCRPO director, Major General Edgar Alan O. Okubo said.

The suspect, a 51-year-old former executive officer of a barangay in Libmanan, Camarines Sur, was arrested on the strength of a non-bailable warrant of arrest for five counts of rape and six counts of sexual assault with no bail recommended.

The Libmanan Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 29 issued the warrant for the arrest of the suspect.

Okubo said that the suspect was tracked down in his hiding place in Bgy. Lorenzo in San Pablo City on Monday afternoon by NCRPO operatives and the Police Regional Office (PRO) 5 under Brigadier Gen. Westrimundo Obinque.

The suspect was locked up at the NCRPO jail in Camp Bagong Diwa in Bicutan, Taguig City, pending his presentation to the court.

“This arrest proves that the NCRPO continuously exerts untiring efforts to locate and arrest those trying to elude the law. Credit goes to the swift action and efficient coordination among different PNP operating units and the much-appreciated support coming from the community,” said Okubo.
