RyanSPEAKING of efficient and effective government services, the Quezon City’s National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) led by Chief Raul B. Angeles is one of the responsive offices nowadays if not the most.

The NBI-QC has been an excellent office in terms of compliance with President Rodrigo “Rody” Duterte’s call to enhance government’s delivery of frontline services.

It has been consistently complying with Republic Act (RA) No. 11032 or the Ease of Doing Business Act, which amended the Anti-Red Tape Act of 2007 (ARTA) because its services are exceptional, fast and truly customer-friendly.

The NBI-QC office’s goal is simple, to champion people’s interest in all transactions involving its office.

Angeles’ compassionate, fair and focused leadership has resulted to his office’s superb performance. He is a believer that people deserve nothing less, but efficient and effective services.

Like NBI Chief Eric Dastor whom House Majority Leader and Leyte 1st District Rep. Martin G. Romualdez introduced with me in a meeting at the Batasang Pambansa Complex, Angeles is also a low key and very approachable public official.

According to the Official Gazette, the NBI undertakes the efficient detection and investigation of crimes and other offenses against Philippine laws.

NBI also coordinates with other national and local police agencies in the maintenance of peace and order.

It also acts as a national clearing house of criminal and other information for the use of all prosecuting and law enforcement entities of the Philippines.

I personally witnessed the systematic operations of NBI-QC in facilitating the request for clearance of its applicants without delay in this very difficult time of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.

Angeles deserves commendation along with his staff, especially his secretary, Ms. Larriza Castro and Mr. Benny Rubio for their outstanding performance.

His hard working and diligent staff members have been religiously reminding the NBI clearance’s applicants to follow the safety measures set by the government to contain the pandemic.

They have been consistently telling the applicants to wear a face mask, wash their hands, use alcohol, observe physical distancing, and ensure that they get vaccinated.

The NBI-QC has been also strictly observing the no noon break policy and doing everything to spare the applicants from the intolerable waiting time and long lines.

The good leadership being exemplified by Angeles should be emulated by other government offices and agencies.
