AGENTS of the National Bureau of Investigation-Iligan District Office (NBI-ILDO) have rescued a minor allegedly kidnapped by her stepmother along with 9 other men in Marawi City.

The rescue stemmed from a complaint filed by the victim’s cousin who claimed that the suspect Rohaima Pamudawan forcibly abducted the minor from their residence in Purok Mangga, Barangay Tubod, Iligan City.

NBI-ILDO operatives conducted the investigation and formed a tracking team to locate the victim along with the suspects.

On February 6, 2022, NBI-ILDO operatives have tracked down the location of the victim and suspects. They learned that the complainant and the suspects are close relatives.

The NBI operatives employed the Maranao traditional ways of settling issues by asking the assistance of the local traditional leaders and community elders for the immediate and safe release of the victim.

NBI-ILDO together with the negotiating team and a municipal social worker were able to convince the suspects to release the minor victim.

The victim was brought to the NBI-ILDO office and was re-assessed and debriefed by the City Social Worker personnel of Iligan City before she was turned over to her immediate family.

Appropriate charges are now being prepared against Pamudawan and her men for kidnapping and serious illegal detention.
