FORMAL charges have been filed against an individual who was arrested by the National Bureau of Investigation-Bayombong District Office (NBI-BAYDO) for the unauthorized sale of a chainsaw in Bambang, Nueva Vizcaya.

NBI Officer-in-Charge (OIC) Eric B. Distor identified the suspect as Kevin Hindac Dulnuan.

The operation stemmed from a request for assistance by the Community Environment and Natural Resources Officer (CENRO) in Nueva Vizcaya, regarding the unauthorized sale of a chainsaw in Region 2.

NBI-BAYDO immediately conducted a surveillance operation, which revealed that GM’s Corner Variety Store (GM) in Bambang town was allegedly involved in the sale and distribution of chainsaws and similar cutting implements without necessary permit from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR).

Verification made with CENRO also revealed that GM failed to secure a permit from their office before selling or offering in public the subject item, which violates the Chainsaw Act of 2002.

On March 16, 2022, operatives of NBI-BAYDO proceeded to the store’s location and conducted a buy-bust operation which resulted in the arrest of suspect Dulnuan.

Dulnuan was charged for violation of Republic Act No. 9175 otherwise known as the “Chainsaw Act of 2002”.

In addition, the owner of the said establishment identified as Michael Guimbingan Kimayong was also charged with the same offense.
