THE city government of Navotas welcomed 48 technical and vocational graduates from Navotas Vocational Training and Assessment (NAVOTAAS) Institute.

Of this number, 21 completed and received national certification (NC) II for Barista, seven for Housekeeping, and 35 for Basic Visual Graphic Design.

“More and more Navoteños see the importance of tech-voc training. Since January this year, 240 have graduated from NAVOTAAS Institute and another batch is set to complete their training this May. We will strive to offer more courses as we prepare for the establishment of the Tanza Airport Support Services,” Mayor Toby Tiangco said.

Navotas has four training centers open to Navoteño and non-Navoteño trainees. Residents may study at the institute for free.

NAVOTAAS Institute Main offers courses in Automotive Servicing NC I, Electrical Installation and Maintenance NC II, Shielded Metal Arc Welding NC I, and Shielded Metal Arc Welding NC II.

NAVOTAAS Institute Annex 1, on the other hand, has courses in Beauty Care NC II, Bread and Pastry Production NC II, Dressmaking NC II, Hairdressing NC II, and Tailoring NC II.

Meanwhile, NAVOTAAS Institute Annex 2 can accommodate those who want to train in Barista NC II, Beauty Care NC II, Bread and Pastry Production NC II, Food and Beverage Services NC II, Hairdressing NC II, Housekeeping NC II, and Massage Therapy NC II.

“We have seen the benefits of tech-voc education that is why we built training centers and offered highly-sought courses. We want Navoteños to have more employment and livelihood opportunities through free skills training and TESDA certification,” Cong. John Rey Tiangco said.

The NAVOTAAS Institute also provide allowances and tool kits to trainees under Training for Work Scholarship Program (TWSP) and Special Training for Employment Program, which are funded by the national government and coordinated through the office of Cong. Tiangco. By EDD REYES
