Nat’l Authority for Child Care vows to strengthen service
TO commemorate its first anniversary, the National Authority for Child Care held a digital thanksgiving service as it vowed to strengthen its service for the best interest of every child in its care.
Since its creation through Republic Act No. 11642 or the Domestic Administrative Adoption and Alternative Child Care Act, the NACC has been working hard to fulfill its mandate and conform to the norms of its founding. Under the stewardship of its Executive Director, Usec Janella Ejercito Estrada, NACC made the necessary changes to ensure the highest quality service delivery.
The past year saw the agency grow and adapt to its role as the primary for adoption and alternative child care to meet the ever-changing demands of the children in its care.
“This has not been an easy year for any of us, but we made it through by working together with the same goal in mind: for the best interest of the child,” Usec. Estrada said. 01/06/2023 News Release- NACC: It’s been a year!
To discharge its functions to make domestic adoptions more accessible and affordable and streamline services for alternative childcare, Estrada hopes to increase and improve cooperation and involvement from its stakeholders, including the government and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and local and international partners.
“Sana po ay tulong- tulong tayo na maisaayos at mapabilis ang proseso ng legal adoption at alternative childcare sa ating bansa na nakaayon sa isinasaad ng batas”, she added.
To further strengthen NACC’s ties with the international community, Estrada likewise oversaw the reaccreditation of Foreign Adoption Agencies (FAAs) and the personal inspection of numerous Child Caring Agencies (CCAs) and Regional Care Facilities (RCFs) to assess the quality of care provided to children.
Estrada also underscored the importance of the nationwide Psycho-Social Wellness Awareness Activity for NACC’s social workers. “Our social workers’ mental well-being is just as important as the children in need that we serve. Kailangan din natin silang suportahan para makapagbigay ng maayos na serbisyo,” she added.
The NACC also accomplished several initiatives that have had a major impact on its mandate, including the 1st Child Placement Committee (CPC) Oath- Taking Ceremony, Ceremonial Signing of the Implementing Rules and Regulations of the Republic Act No. 11642, or The Domestic Administrative Adoption and Alternative Child Care Act and RA11767 or the Foundling Recognition and Protection Act.
