‘National disaster map law, magliligtas ng mga buhay’ – Atayde

PINASALAMATAN ng baguhang mambabatas ang kanyang mga kasamahan sa House Committee on Climate Change sa pag-aapruba ng House Bill No. 7278 o National Hazard Mapping Act, at nuogn Huwebes sinabi niyang maiiwasan nito ang kamatayan at pagsira ng mga ari-arian bilang resulta ng mga kalamidad.

Sinabi ng Quezon City 1st District Rep. na si Juan Carlos “Arjo” Atayde na “walang makakapag-predict o makakapigil sa mga natural na kalamidad; ngunit maaari nating ihanda ang ating mga kababayan para dito.”

“This measure will arm our people with the knowledge they need to take the steps necessary to ensure that their families and their homes are out of harm’s way.”

Inaprubahan ng House Committee on Climate Change, kung saan ang chair ay ang Bohol 1st District Rep. na si Edgar Chatto, ang HB 7278 noong Martes.

Sa ilalim ng Section 3 ng nasabing bill, ang Department of Environment and Natural Resources, sa pamamagitan ng National Mapping and Resource Information Authority kasama ang Department of Science and Technology, Climate Change Commission, at ng National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council” ay uutusang magbigay at mag-isyu ng national disaster map ng Pilipinas.”

Tutukuyin ng national disaster map ang "low-lying areas vulnerable to rising sea levels as a result of climate change and high risk for natural disasters.”

Tutukuyin din ng nasabing map ang mga lupain na 1) bordering sea levels, 2) exposed to volcanic eruptions, at 3) lying on earthquake faults.

Magbibigay din ito ng mga pamantayan para sa evacuation at illustrations ng mga rekomendadong evacuation sites at routes.

“This information provided by a national disaster map will help people all around our country, which we know is vulnerable to disasters.

Kahit po sa QC nakita na natin na may mga lugar na delikado magpatayo ng bahay,”ayon sa mambabatas.

“The tragic part is that we discover this after the fact; after the damage has been done and lives have been lost. A national disaster map can prevent all these.”
