Nasugbu-Divertex stuns Biñan in NBL

CALAMBA City — Nasugbu Batangas- Divertex Sports ended its campaign with a bang by beating Biñan City-Vice Gel, 110-92, in the National Basketball League (NBL) Inter-City basketball tournament at the National University Inspire Sports Academy here.

Handled by former Manuel Luis Quezon University standout Florencio Lana, Nasugbu leaned on Ejhay Canete and Dan Lord Magpantay to roll back Binan City- Vice Gel and close out with its fourth win in eight outings in this nine-team tournament organized by BAP Region 4 head Leonardo “Ding” Andres.

Canete and Magpantay scored 20 points apiece for Nasugbu- Divertex of businessman-sportsman Vince B. Ochave and Danna Calingasan.

Edward Villanueva added 14 points, Geremie Sanchez had 13 points and Joefrid Arboleda contributed 10 points for Nasugbu-Divertex.

Ashley LosBanez topscored with 22 points for Biñan City-Vice Gel, which wound up with 6-2 record in a tie with San Pedro City-AMB.

Despite the loss, Biñan clinched the No. 2 seed via win-over-the-other rule.

Gelo Alanguilan added 16 points and Fritz Del Rosario and Macky Guico contributed 12 points each for Biñan.

In the 15-under, Tanauan City Warriors posted back to back victories over LDG Guild Biñan City and Santa Rosa City Jaguars over the weekend.

The Warriors defeated Biñan, 94-70, last Saturday and Santa City, 76-60, last Sunday for their third straight win in this five-team tournament.

The Robert John Bosques-mentored Warriors crushed San Pedro City -LDG, 82-68, in their opening match.

Dwane Lirio, Mico Castillo and John Robert Cea led Tanauan City, which is being supported by Vice Mayor Atty. Junjun Trinidad, SK president Kohn Kennedy Macalindong and tea manager Brian Lirio.

Romulo Raytos is the xommissioner while Marcial Macapanton, Pedro Raytos, Alvin Tungol and Joenald Pacquiao head the technical committee. AA
