Napolcom denounces case-fixing activities, vows swift action
THE National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM) has strongly condemned the alleged case-fixing scheme involving one of its employees as it launched an immediate investigation over reports that several other personnel were engaged in this “malpractice.”
In a statement, the NAPOLCOM leadership said it will implement stricter measures and reinforce existing safeguards to prevent similar occurrences in the future to ensure that its processes remain impartial and untainted by any form of corruption.
The decision came following an entrapment operation against employee “Noel,” who was caught red-handed while receiving P20,000 from a dismissed police major in exchange for a favorable resolution of the latter’s case before the NAPOLCOM.
Earlier, Commissioner Atty. Rafael Vicente Calinisan said that the Commission’s En Banc will pursue an administrative investigation against several personalities engaged in the same scheme after another complainant pointed to “Noel” and seven others who are also in “case-fixing” scheme.
“In light of this serious breach of public trust, Napolcom has launched an immediate investigation to determine the extent of the alleged case-fixing scheme, wherein certain police personnel with pending administrative cases in Napolcom were alleged solicited for monetary compensation in return for favorable decisions,” part of the statement read.
The commission also affirmed its uncompromising policy against corruption as it asserted that any employee found guilty in such illicit activities will face the full force of the law.
