Napolcom commends QC, Makati for crime reduction efforts

THE crime reduction achieved by Quezon and Makati cities is very significant and should not go unnoticed.

This was stressed by Commissioner Rafael Calinisan of the National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM) who proudly commended QC mayor Joy Belmonte and Acting QCPD director Colonel Melecio Buslig Jr. along with Makati City Police Station under Col. Jean dela Torre for their exemplary efforts in ensuring the safety and security of their respective jurisdiction.

“This achievement is a testament to the unwavering commitment and strong ties between the LGU, and the Police Force in protecting the citizens and creating a safer environment for everyone,” Calinisan said.

He cited data for the calendar year 2024 which reveals a remarkable reduction in QC’s crime rate underscoring the effectiveness of the local police under Buslig Jr. ‘s command.

Reports reaching the Napolcom official’s office showed a decrease of 21.97 percent in overall crime incidents compared to 2023.

This includes significant reductions in physical injuries, rape, theft, and robbery. Further, in the first four months of Col. Buslig, there was a 14 percent overall decline in major focus crimes, Notably, murder decreased by 29.41 percent, physical injuries by 52 percent, rape by 36 percent, robbery by 17 percent, and theft by nine percent highlighting the District’s relentless commitment to public safety.

Meanwhile, Commissioner Calinisan also applauded the Makati City Police Station under Col. Jean Dela Torre for successfully carrying out various comprehensive operations that have resulted in significant reductions in various index crimes and a remarkable improvement in crime-solving efficiency.

Makati City experienced a dramatic drop in theft and robbery incidents – from 32 cases reported in December 2024, a sharp decline to just 13 in January 2025.

The station achieved an impressive 69.23 percent Crime Clearance Efficiency (CCE) and 61.53 percent Crime Solution Efficiency (CSE), an improvement from the previous months.

“It reflects their hard work, dedication, and collaboration with the community. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to every police officer who contributed to this success. This milestone serves as both a celebration of success and a reminder of the collective responsibility to sustain peace and order. Nagpapasalamat ako kay Col. Buslig at kay Col. Dela Torre for a job well done,” Calinisan added.
