THE Philippines hopes to go deeper in the FIBA Women’s Asia Cup as it takes on New Zealand in the play-in game for a place in the semifinals at the Sydney Olympic Park Sports Centre in Australia.

Tip-off is at 3 p.m. (Manila time).

A win by Gilas Women over the Tall Ferns will set up a rematch against defending five-time champion Japan in the Final Four.

The Philippines is coming off a historic 92-81 victory over Chinese Taipei last Wednesday, the first pool play win of Gilas since being promoted to Division A in 2015.

Finishing third spot in Group B with a 1-2 record, the Philippines was able to avoid falling down to the relegation match.

New Zealand pulled off a 76-45 victory over Lebanon to finish second in Group A with a 2-1 card.

China became the Pool A winners and will take on the winner of the other play-in game between Australia and South Korea in the semifinals.
