FOUR persons, including a child, on Wednesday died in a four-vehicle collision on Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX ) near Sapang Balen, in Mabalacat City, Pampanga.

The victims were identified as Ma. Maureen Santos, 47, driver of Toyota Wigo, and a resident of 221 Silangan St., Mapalacsiao City, Tarlac, Tarlac, and her passengers Normita Valencia, 49; Leslie Pangan, 46; and MJ Uriel Santos, 9.

Initial investigation indicated a Ford Ranger owned by Prasad Seeds Phil. Inc. and being driven by Jett Ace Pascua, 29, of Ramirez Compound, Patalan, Paniqui, Tarlac, went out of control and rammed the highway’s steel guard rail on the opposite side.

The impact caused the Ford Ranger to sideswipe an incoming Faw truck owned by Chesvet Steel Manufacturing and being driven by Jerry Valerio, 35, of San Pedro, Magalang, Pampanga.

The truck fell on its side, hitting the Victory bus being driven by Eulalio Alcantara, 42, of Bgy . Pocalpocal, Alaminos City, Pangasinan.

The bus then collided with the Toyota vehicle, killing the four victims on the spot.

Police said the driver of the Ford Ranger pick up truck could have lost control of the vehicle due to slippery road caused by heavy rains in the area.

Charges for reckless imprudence resulting in multiple homicide, physical injuries, and damage to property are being readied for filing in court against the driver of the Ford Ranger.
