Most wanted man captured after 20 yrs

NAMPICUAN, Nueva Ecija — A 58-year-old businessman tagged as this town’s number one most wanted felon was arrested after more than 20 years in hiding during manhunt operations in Quezon City.

Nabbed was Ferdinand Vergara of Bgy. San Josef Norte, Cabanatuan City.

Nueva Ecija provincial police director Col. Rhoderick Campo said joint operatives of the local police, the 303rd MC, Provincial Intelligence Unit of the NEPPO, the Gapan police and Regional Intelligence Unit of the Police Regional Office 3 nabbed the suspect at his hideout in Bgy. Muñoz, Quezon City on October 9.

Campo said the suspect has a standing alias arrest warrant for murder dated March 7, 2001 issued by Judge Napoleon Sta. Romana, of the Guimba Regional Trial Court, with no bail recommended.

“Anchored on the Intensified Cleanliness Policy of PNP chief Gen. Guillermo Eleazar relative to cleansing our community, the PRO3 assures to continuously launch its intensified operations to account and arrest all persons sought by law,” said PRO3 chief Brig. Gen. Valeriano De Leon.
