Most wanted killer caught in Oriental Mindoro
AN “intelligence packet” developed by members of the Philippine National Police Intelligence Group (PNP-IG) has led to the capture of one of the country’s most wanted persons with P135,000 bounty offered by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), the Journal Group learned yesterday.
PNP-IG officer-in-charge Col. Col. Frankie C. Candelario said that suspect Alvin Alvares, a 28-year-ld resident of Bgy. Lumang Bayan in Calapan City in Oriental Mindoro, was tracked down in his hiding place in Sitio Sta. Mesa, Bgy. Babangunan, Victoria municipality on Friday.
In a report to PNP chief Gen. Rommel Francisco D. Marbil, the official said that officers from the PNP-IG Counter-Intelligence Division developed the information that led to the arrest of the suspect who is wanted for killing Rogelio Rempilio in Bgy. Gulang in Lucena City on March 24, 2018.
Judge Romeo Buenaventura of the Lucena City Regional Trial Court Branch 59 issued a non-bailable warrant of arrest against the suspect on April 14, 2019.
According to Candelario, the suspect was finally caught after six years and 10 months in hiding as a result of the “intelligence packet” developed by the unit.
He said that the information enabled them to apprehend the accused with the help of members of the Police Regional Office 4-B headed by Brig. Gen. Roger L. Quesada.
