Mob beats man in Cavite over ‘sex assault’
A 29-YEAR-OLD man who tried to “sexually attack” a hapless target in a subdivision in General Mariano Alvarez (GMA) in Cavite was mobbed by angry neighbors of the victim.
The suspect suffered cuts and bruises on the body after the woman’s neighbors came to her rescue and beat up the accused.
An investigation showed that on Monday afternoon, the victim and some of her friends were about to leave her rented house in Barangay Maderan, but she returned to check if the door was already locked.
However, when she was about to open the gate, the suspect suddenly grabbed her pants and forcibly took them off, and touched her private part.
A CCTV (closed-circuit television) camera footage showed the victim shouting for help as the suspect assaulted her in the middle of the streets. As both lay down on the ground, the victim’s neighbors, who noticed the commotion, came to her rescue and ganged up on the suspect.
The victim suffered bruises on her arms and body as she tried to break free from the suspect.
Responding barangay officials turned the suspect over to the local police, who will be filing criminal charges for acts of lasciviousness against him.
Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief General Rodolfo S. Azurin Jr. lauded the men who came to the rescue of the victim and subdued the suspect before turning him over to the police.
He said that the men’s swift action assured that the suspect wouldn’t be able to go into hiding and that necessary filing of charges would be pursued against him.
