THE Department of Transportation (DOTr) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on Thursday, November 17, 2022, with South Korea’s Incheon International Airport Corporation (IIAC) to strengthen and develop the Philippines’ aviation sector by providing training programs and joint cooperation activities to aviation stakeholders.

Under the MOU, the IIAC will provide the DOTr with regular and customized training courses available at the Incheon Airport Aviation Academy (IAAA).

The IIAC will also design and develop customized training courses that cater to DOTr’s specific training needs in the fields of airport operations, services, safety, security, among others.

DOTr Undersecretary for Aviation and Airports Atty. Roberto Lim welcomed the DOTr-IIAC partnership, saying the training programs provided by IIAC through the IAAA will boost the country’s aviation sector.

“The Department of Transportation welcomes this opportunity to work with Incheon. The key to aviation progress or progress of any country is people —people who are trained properly to man all of infrastructure,” Usec. Lim pointed out.

IIAC Administration Division Vice President Byung-Kee Lim said the state-owned South Korean airport corporation will further expand its ties with the Philippines in terms of aviation training and other programs.

“Through this MOU partnership, I hope that we can expand cooperation in terms of aviation training in the future,” said IIAC Vice President Lim.
